We have started work on an online database for basic atomic and molecular data.
The first phase of the database contains cross sections for dissociation,
ionization, and photodissociative ionization. We calculate rate coefficients
(inverse lifetimes) using the solar spectrum as a function of solar activity.
Future calculations will include rate coefficients using blackbody spectra with
temperature as input, and an interstellar radiation spectrum. We calculate the
excess energies of the ionization or dissociation products and provide plots of
cross sections, rate coefficients, and excess energies as a function of wavelength.
Many results can be downloaded for use on your computer. In the future, effects
of optical depth will be included for some planetary and satellite atmospheres.
If you are interested in using such a database, please help us define additional quantities you would like to have available by filling out the questionnaire below.
